What's On!
Community Forums
Six community forums are being established across the Stratford on Avon District. Warwickshire Association of Local Councils, Warwickshire County Council and Stratford on Avon District Council are working together to ensure that Parish & Town Councils are represented on the Community Forums and are able to play a full role in their work.
Within the district there are over 100 Parish and Town Councils and parish meetings. It is proposed that, in order to enable the community forums to be able to operate successfully, Parish & Town Councils within a community forum area work together in small groups or clusters and identify someone to represent them.
The purposes of the Community Forum are to:
Help shape the public services in the locality and ensure that these services respond to local needs. This includes the production of a plan identifying agreed key priorities and sharing information about the public services offered in the locality including key service contacts.
Agreed proposed actions affecting the locality and identify local priorities. This includes working with the local Safer Neighbourhoods Team in identifying priorities for the area. The Forum is also the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) panel for the locality.
Provide the opportunity for the community to question and challenge public sector service providers about the services that are delivered locally.
Ensure that relevant information is shared and two-way communication takes place between public sector agencies and local people and organisations.
Membership of the community forum would typically include:
Town and Parish Council representatives
District Councillors for the relevant wards
The County Councillor(s) for the relevant County electoral division(s)
Warwickshire Police
Warwickshire Police Authority
Warwickshire Primary Care Trust
People living and/or working in the locality
Issues considered by the community forums will reflect local concerns and might for example include: environmental cleanliness; traffic and road safety; facilities and activities for young people and children: road and pavement maintenance; crime and community safety; public transport; health and social care services; sports, leisure and cultural facilities.
The meeting for Henley/Studley will be held on Wednesday 10th September 2008 at 6.00pm in Studley Village Hall
